I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, back in the year 1984. I graduated from the Department of Letras (philology) at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. Then I earned a Master of Arts in Hispanic Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago. So far, my career has oscillated between education and advertising/communications.
As an educator, I stood in front of the classroom to convince a room full of restless minds that language itself could create worlds and that words could pull ideas to the ground. Similarly, as a copywriter, I try to harness that same pull to craft narratives that resonate with the target audience and drive revenue for my clients.
As an independent writer, I move through stories, finding subtle paths between faraway ideas while keeping every detail anchored in a single, central truth. Every element is composed of visible and invisible causes, and building a narrative is simply choosing a causal path to make sense of the story and what emotions we want to nurture.
I enjoy creating stories where the premise accounts for all the individual, cultural, sensorial, psychological, socio-economic, and historical causes that have brought them to this point.
Ultimately, I don’t try to trick my audience, but to win them over through the natural eloquence of stories rooted in verisimilitude.
